British actor Nicholas Hoult has been cast as Professor Gilderoy Lockhart in the second season of HBO and Max's Harry Potter series, according to infohub.kz.
As reported by Entertainment Weekly, Hoult will play the boastful Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. The second season will adapt the book 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.' In the original 2002 film, the character was played by Kenneth Branagh.
Filming for the second season is scheduled for autumn. Notably, Hoult had previously auditioned for the roles of Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy in the original film franchise as a child but did not get the parts. The actor is known for his roles as Lex Luthor in the DC universe, Peter III in 'The Great,' as well as films like 'Mad Max: Fury Road,' 'The Menu,' and the 'X-Men' franchise.
The premiere of the first season of the ambitious reboot of the young wizard's story is planned for the end of the year. The creators of the series aim to attract major Hollywood stars for the roles of Hogwarts professors in subsequent seasons.
