In the Atyrau region, an oil company has been brought to administrative responsibility for numerous violations of environmental legislation, reports the website infohub.kz.
According to the publication "Ak Zhaik", the local company "Potencial Oil" LLP has been fined over 1.4 billion tenge following an inspection by the Department of Ecology for the Atyrau region.
Environmental inspectors identified a number of serious violations: lack of proper industrial environmental control, violations in wastewater monitoring and reporting failures, exceeding permissible emission limits and operating without environmental permits, as well as soil contamination with petroleum products and non-compliance with waste management rules.
"The total amount of administrative sanctions imposed was 1 billion 433.8 million tenge. To date, the enterprise has paid only 21.9 million tenge. The company attempted to challenge the remaining fines totaling 1 billion 411.9 million tenge. However, the courts of first and appellate instances sided with the environmentalists, leaving the complaints of "Potencial Oil" LLP unsatisfied," the article states.
The department warned that if the enterprise does not pay the debt within the legally established period, the orders will be sent to bailiffs for compulsory collection.
