Omnipol May Supply L-410 Aircraft to Aktobe Region

Czech company Omnipol Defence a.s. is considering supplying L-410 aircraft to the Aktobe Region. According to regional akim Asqat Shakharov, financing for the project is being worked out jointly with the Industrial Development Fund, infohub.kz reports.

Shakharov discussed the details of the aircraft delivery at a meeting with Artem Movsesyan, chairman of the board of directors of Omnipol Defence a.s.

According to the akim, the aircraft delivery is of great importance for the region, as it plans to actively develop small aviation. In addition, the region faces the task of training specialists and creating the necessary infrastructure to establish regional air service.

Shakharov also spoke about a newly launched tender for the construction of an airport in Shalkar.

For their part, Omnipol representatives agreed to take part in preparing the ground equipment needed to operate the aircraft.

Artem Movsesyan noted that the holding structure includes a separate division, Omnipol Airports, specializing in infrastructure for small and medium-sized airports. The company is ready to offer solutions for lighting equipment, air traffic control and navigation systems.

It is worth noting that L-410 aircraft have long been operated in Kazakhstan. Two L 410 UVP-E20 aircraft have been based in Aktobe since 2023 and are used by the Talgat Begeldinov Military Institute of Air Defense Forces. Four more L 410 NG aircraft are in service with Kazaviaspas JSC of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The L-410 is a turboprop aircraft with a capacity of up to 19 passengers, designed for short- and medium-distance transportation. Aircraft of this type can operate at airfields with relatively short runways, which matters for developing a network of local airports.

Earlier, Kursiv wrote that Air Astana Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ibrahim Zhanlyel said the first Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, with which the airline expects to serve direct flights from Kazakhstan to New York and Tokyo, will arrive in the republic in December of this year.
