Users have discovered that the app of Russian marketplace Ozon is no longer available for download on Google Play. As of August 15, the app's page is not displayed in the store for some users, although it may still open via Google search results, where it shows that the last update was released on August 4. Meanwhile, the iPhone version remains available in the App Store, reports infohub.kz.
No official comments on the reasons for the app's disappearance have been made by either Ozon or Google. Earlier, the Ozon Bank app had already been removed from Google Play. At that time, the company stated that already installed versions would continue to work normally, and customers have access to the web version and alternative installation methods.
Notably, Ozon's main competitor, Wildberries, is still available for download on Google Play. Ozon Bank is not the only Russian service to face restrictions in app stores. Previously, Google Play removed apps such as VK, VKontakte, Odnoklassniki, Mail.ru, and the Max messenger.
The restrictions have also affected Yandex services. On August 12, the Yandex Pay app disappeared from the Russian version of the App Store, although it remained available on Google Play.
Some Russian apps have previously disappeared from Apple and Google stores after their associated companies were added to sanctions lists. However, it is not yet possible to officially link the disappearance of Ozon's main app to sanctions, as Google and the company have not cited such a reason.
