At a court hearing in Astana on the case of the death of paramedic Ulbala Myrzuan, materials from the criminal case were examined, including surveillance camera footage capturing the moment of the facade collapse of a residential building, reports infohub.kz.
The footage, shot in the building's courtyard, shows the cladding collapsing at 10:26:43 a.m. on November 8, 2025, followed by a dense cloud of dust. As the dust settled, parts of the collapsed facade became visible. The state prosecutor noted that part of the cladding fell on a Cobalt car parked in the yard.
At 10:43:07 a.m., an ambulance arrived at the scene, followed by emergency workers and police who cordoned off the area. Further events were not shown in court.
Earlier, a resident of the building whose facade collapsed complained about cracks in the structure. The court also read out the findings of a technical inspection of the building.
As previously reported, on November 8, 2025, the brick cladding and an air conditioner fell from the facade of a nine-story residential building in Astana. Paramedic Ulbala Myrzuan was injured when she tried to pull a man from the debris: an air conditioner fell on her head from the 9th floor. She underwent skull surgery but died on November 18.
On August 18, 2026, an open trial began in Astana in the case of Ulbala Myrzuan's death. The defendant is Saule Zhubaniyazova, chairwoman of the building's homeowners' association.
During the hearing, victims testified: Gulnur Kaliyeva, who became disabled as a result of the incident, and her brother, who rushed to help his sister after her call. It also became known that among the emergency workers involved in the rescue, there were dismissals and demotions.
Testimony was given by the former building manager, who worked before Zhubaniyazova. According to her, problems in the building existed before 2020.
