An incident occurred aboard an Emirates flight bound for Sydney, where passengers had to use force to subdue a disruptive man, according to the website infohub.kz.
A passenger on the international flight began behaving erratically and aggressively toward others. To ensure their safety and that of the crew, fellow travelers were forced to restrain the man right in the cabin.
According to The Daily Telegraph, the unruly passenger was immobilized and tied to his seat using plastic cable ties. He remained restrained for the rest of the flight, which lasted about six more hours. The incident took place on a double-decker Airbus A380.
The pilots had earlier contacted ground services via radio and requested law enforcement presence. On Thursday evening, the aircraft landed safely at Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport, where officers from the Australian Federal Police were waiting on the tarmac.
The police boarded the plane and took the man into custody. Journalists captured police carrying the detainee's personal belongings through the arrivals area of the international terminal. According to available information, Australian authorities and police are treating the case as an incident related to a passenger's mental health issues.
