A three-year-old child ended up in intensive care after a visit to the dentist in Pavlodar: according to relatives, the girl's condition deteriorated sharply during dental treatment, and her heart stopped on the way to the hospital. This is reported by infohub.kz.
According to NUR.KZ, citing the Pavlodar Region Health Department, information about the incident appeared on social media. The Instagram account tipavlo.dar published a letter from a woman who said that on October 21, at one of Pavlodar's dental clinics, her niece felt unwell during dental treatment: the child's eyes rolled back and she had difficulty breathing.
“After my sister started crying, a nurse from the neighboring office called emergency services. (...) In the ambulance, the child's heart stopped, and it stopped again within the walls of the regional children's hospital,” the relative's message says.
A NUR.KZ correspondent requested comment from the press service of the Pavlodar Region Health Department. They confirmed that the girl, born in 2023, was delivered by an ambulance crew to the regional children's hospital on October 21 at 15:45.
“Bypassing the admissions department, the child was hospitalized in the intensive care unit in extremely serious condition. Today the girl is on a ventilator and receiving intensive therapy. On October 22, a telemedicine consultation was held with specialists from the National Scientific Center for Maternity and Childhood (UMC) and the National Scientific Center for Cardiac Surgery. The tactics for managing the patient and further treatment were agreed upon,” the department said.
It is specified that interdisciplinary councils of doctors at the regional children's hospital are held daily to assess the child's condition over time and the effectiveness of the treatment. The situation is under the personal control of the head of the health department.
“The circumstances of the incident are being investigated by law enforcement agencies, and a legal assessment will be given based on the results of the inspection,” the department added.
