A resident of Petropavlovsk has been sentenced to one year in prison for systematically failing to pay child support. His debt to his son reached 1.5 million tenge, reports infohub.kz.
The court of the North Kazakhstan Region found that the man was obligated to pay alimony for his minor child but evaded his duties. The accumulated debt grew to a substantial amount.
During the proceedings, it was established that the man had a real opportunity to find a job and earn a salary, but he did not take advantage of it and did not contact the Employment Center. Additionally, his place of residence gave him a negative reference, and he had been repeatedly brought to administrative responsibility for non-payment of alimony.
"Despite being given the opportunity to reform, the defendant failed to draw the necessary conclusions and continued to evade his obligations to support the child," the court stated.
The court also found that since 2021, the man had not maintained contact with his son, did not participate in his upbringing, and showed no interest in his health or welfare.
The defendant was found guilty of failing to fulfill obligations to pay funds for the maintenance of a minor child and was sentenced to one year in prison. The verdict has entered into legal force.
Earlier, it was reported that a resident of Astana tried to reduce alimony due to illness, but the court did not believe him.
