The number of foreign tourists visiting Kazakhstan has reached 15.7 million, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports said in a congratulatory message to Kazakhstanis on World Tourism Day, according to infohub.kz.
According to the ministry, the country's tourism sector has shown dynamic growth in recent years. Between 2019 and 2025, the number of domestic tourists rose from 6.6 million to 8.6 million, while foreign visitor numbers increased from 8.5 million to 15.7 million.
The Ministry of Tourism and Sports also emphasized that tourism legislation is being continuously updated. In 2026, a series of amendments aimed at supporting the industry were adopted: the legal status of visitor centers was formalized and the activities of guides were regulated.
"We face the tasks of developing tourism infrastructure, improving the quality of services provided and strengthening Kazakhstan's international tourism potential," the ministry said, outlining its plans.
Recall that to work as a guide, tour guide or tourism instructor, one must now hold Kazakhstani citizenship and submit a notification to the competent authorities through eLicense.kz.
In addition, a state electronic register of guides has been developed in the country. It is available on the ministry's internet resources and on the website of Kazakh Tourism National Company JSC.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that Kazakhstan was placed in the category of countries with the lowest level of tourism risks by the U.S. Department of State. American tourists are advised to take normal precautions when traveling to Kazakhstan.
