Britain's media regulator Ofcom has ruled on Radio Caroline, which accidentally broadcast a pre-recorded announcement of the monarch's death and the national anthem, reports infohub.kz.
The incident occurred during a broadcast of "The Barry Marsh Show." A studio employee, while servicing a computer, out of curiosity played reserved audio files intended for announcing the king's death. As a result, the broadcast was interrupted, the UK national anthem played, followed by 16 minutes of silence.
Realizing what had happened, the culprit panicked and left the studio. Since the show's host was working remotely, he didn't notice the glitch immediately, and a full retraction with apologies aired only 30 minutes later.
Ofcom called the incident an extremely serious inaccuracy. Radio Caroline's management said the employee received a reprimand and apologized, and the emergency files were deleted from the studio computer's desktop.
