Joint exercises of the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces of the Central Asian region, dubbed Rubezh-2026, have kicked off at the Koktal training range in the Zhetisu region, involving servicemen from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan, the website infohub.kz reports.
According to NUR.KZ, citing the Ministry of Defense, troops from the Collective Security Treaty Organization member states have begun joint training at the Koktal range in the Zhetisu region.
During the drills, servicemen from the four countries are practicing joint preparation and coordination between command bodies and national contingents.
"The exercise is being held from September 13 to 18 under the command of Colonel Makhsut Guseynov, commander of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It involves about 1,500 servicemen and more than 300 units of weapons, military and special equipment, including 115 unmanned aerial vehicles," the defense ministry said.
The practical actions are being conducted with account for the mountainous and desert terrain and include interaction with units of Kazakhstan's Border Service and National Guard.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan warned Kazakh citizens about the upcoming CSTO exercises, noting that military equipment would be moving along roads in three regions.
