Sergey Mironov, a deputy of the Russian State Duma from the A Just Russia party, has once again called for the introduction of a visa regime with Central Asian countries, reports infohub.kz.
During a briefing, a video of which was published on the party leader's official website, Mironov stated: "We generally believe that a visa regime could be introduced with Central Asian countries. But at least let's do it on the Belarusian model. There, the procedure is: if a businessman needs foreign workers, he must first prove that a Belarusian cannot do the job. If proven, then men enter and a temporary shelter is built in an open field, not in a populated area like here. They complete the work, get paid, and leave. No families."
The lawmaker cited data claiming that only 28% of migrants entering Russia intend to work, while the rest pursue other goals. He also proposed deporting the relatives of migrants who commit crimes and banning foreigners from working in certain economic sectors. "More than half of Russia's regions have adopted such laws. Correct. Let's do it at the federal level too. I think the ninth convocation of the State Duma will work in this direction," Mironov concluded.
Additionally, the deputy expressed concern that in some mixed martial arts clubs, the majority of participants are migrants. "Go into any MMA club in any region! There are no locals, only migrants! What are they preparing for? Why? This is very alarming!" Mironov said.
Mironov had previously raised the issue of introducing a visa regime with Central Asian countries; his remarks went viral on social media.
