In the Zhetysu region, the investigation into a case of serial cattle rustling has been completed. Six residents of the Sarkand district stood trial on charges of cattle theft, as reported by infohub.kz.

According to the media portal of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Polisia.kz, the investigation established that the perpetrators acted as part of a premeditated group. They herded stolen cattle from the Alakol district to the Sarkand district, where some of the animals were slaughtered and the meat was intended for sale.

As a result of operational and investigative measures conducted jointly with the prosecutor's office of the Zhetysu region, the involvement of each defendant in the crimes was established. The collected evidence allowed for a full reconstruction of the events and determined the role of each accused.

By court verdict, all six defendants were found guilty of stealing 61 head of cattle. The total damage caused to the owners of the animals amounted to 28.8 million tenge. The court sentenced them to imprisonment ranging from two to five years.
