Kazakhstan is bracing for a sharp weather shift in the last days of August and early September. According to Kazhydromet, rain will turn to wet snow in the north and east of the country, with nighttime temperatures dropping to 1-3 degrees Celsius in some areas. Meanwhile, the south and southeast will still see heat up to +37 degrees, reports infohub.kz.

Meteorologists expect wet snow as early as the night of August 30 in the north and east of the North Kazakhstan region. On the nights of August 30-31, rain with a transition to wet snow is forecast for the north and east of the Kostanay region.

From September 1-2, similar weather is expected in the north and east of the Akmola region. During the same period, rain will turn to wet snow in the east and mountainous areas of the East Kazakhstan region.

In the Pavlodar region, precipitation turning to wet snow is expected on September 1 in the west and north, and on September 2 in the north and east of the region.

In the Abai region, rain may turn to wet snow on September 2 in the west, north, and east.

The cold weather will be accompanied by frosts. In the west and north of the Kostanay region, temperatures of 1-3 degrees above zero are expected on the nights of August 30-31. Similar frosts are forecast from August 31 to September 2 in some areas of the Akmola and Karaganda regions.

From September 1-2, frosts of 1-3 degrees are expected in the west, north, and east of the East Kazakhstan region, as well as in the west and north of the Abai region and in some areas of the Pavlodar region.

In Petropavlovsk, on the nights of August 30-31, ground frosts of up to 1 degree below zero are expected. In Astana, ground frosts are forecast for the night of August 31.

Meanwhile, on August 29, the weather will still be summer-like warm. In the Almaty and Zhetysu regions, daytime temperatures will reach a scorching +35-37 degrees. In Almaty, the air will warm up to +35, and in Konaev to +35-36 degrees.

On August 29, the north, northeast, and center of the country will see rain, thunderstorms, and in places heavy precipitation, hail, and squally winds. In the Pavlodar region, wind gusts may reach 23-28 m/s.

Thus, in just a few days, the weather in Kazakhstan will change from summer heat to wet snow and frosts.
