A Los Angeles County grand jury has indicted Nick Reiner, accused of murdering his parents, director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michelle Singer Reiner. He now faces the possibility of the death penalty, according to infohub.kz.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney's office announced that the grand jury indicted Nick Reiner on two counts of first-degree murder. The new indictment also includes a special circumstance allegation that the murders were committed by means of ambush. If convicted, Nick Reiner could face the death penalty, but prosecutors have not yet said whether they will seek the ultimate punishment.
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman stated: "This was a profound betrayal by someone who was loved and trusted by the very people he is accused of killing. We hope that this grand jury indictment brings us one step closer to trial and achieving justice."
Nick Reiner has pleaded not guilty to the charges. A trial date has not yet been set.
As previously reported, on December 15, 2025, the bodies of two people were discovered at Rob Reiner's home in Los Angeles. Initially, it was reported that the deceased were a man approximately 78 years old and a woman approximately 68 years old. Later, it was confirmed that they were the director and his wife, Michelle. Their 32-year-old son, Nick, was arrested on suspicion of murder. He was charged with first-degree murder with the special circumstance of multiple murders, as well as the use of a dangerous weapon—a knife.
The President of the United States also stated that Rob Reiner and his wife were killed out of anger and obsession with Trump.
