Sony has unveiled a new version of the PlayStation 5 in black. For now, it will be released as a limited edition only in Japan, with no word on launches in other countries. Kursiv LifeStyle examined how the new console differs from the familiar white model, according to infohub.kz.
Before the PlayStation 5, Sony stuck to the classics: the PS2, PS3 and PS4 were released in black or graphite. But in 2020, the fifth console got a white body with futuristic panels. Admittedly, from the side it looks more like an air purifier or a household appliance. Now Sony is returning to the more familiar black, which looks more understated and, arguably, fits better into the interior. However, for now only as part of a limited release.
The new model is called Midnight Black. It has a fully black body and a DualSense controller in the same color. Previously, enthusiasts achieved this look with replaceable panels, but some parts of the console still remained white.
Technically, there are no changes: it is the same PlayStation 5 Digital Edition without a disc drive. In Japan, it will go on sale as early as November, with pre-orders opening on October 20. The console will cost $350 (about 158,000 tenge, but Japanese prices are usually lower than in Kazakhstan, so when it appears on our market, the console will likely be significantly more expensive).
Earlier, Kursiv LifeStyle wrote that Xbox and PlayStation are losing customers due to record console prices.
