A storm warning has been issued for 17 regions of Kazakhstan on July 31 due to thunderstorms, hail, squalls, dust storms, and extreme heat of up to 44 degrees Celsius, according to infohub.kz.
Kazhydromet, the national weather service, issued the warning for 17 regions. Adverse weather conditions ranging from thunderstorms and hail to dust storms and extreme heat are expected across the affected areas.
The highest temperatures, reaching 40–44 degrees Celsius during the day, are forecast in the Kyzylorda and Turkestan regions. Dust storms are also expected in Kyzylorda and Atyrau regions.
In the Aktobe, Pavlodar, East Kazakhstan, Kostanay, West Kazakhstan, North Kazakhstan, and Abai regions, forecasters warn of rain, thunderstorms, localized hail, and gusty winds.
Intense heat will persist in the Almaty, Akmola, Karaganda, Zhambyl, Mangystau, Zhetysu, and Ulytau regions, with temperatures reaching 35–39 degrees Celsius in most areas.
Adverse weather is also expected in the cities of Almaty, Aktau, Aktobe, Kyzylorda, Taldykorgan, Konayev, Kokshetau, Taraz, Pavlodar, Petropavlovsk, Uralsk, Turkestan, and Shymkent.
Kazhydromet also warns of high and extreme fire danger in several regions. Wind gusts of up to 23–28 meters per second are forecast in some areas, and near Lake Alakol, wind speeds may reach 25 m/s locally.
