The management of the upscale mixed-use complex Talan Towers in Astana has issued an official statement regarding an incident in which a cladding element was torn from a height by hurricane-force winds and smashed parked cars. The complex's administration acknowledged responsibility and promised to fully compensate the car owners for the actual damage, infohub.kz reports.

According to Talan Towers representatives, the cause of the emergency was a sheet of plywood that had been secured on an operating terrace. Such elements are installed annually with the onset of the autumn-winter period to protect the space from snow and ice. However, yesterday's abnormally strong gust of wind tore the fastening loose.

"The incident has been recorded by law enforcement agencies, and all necessary measures are being taken. This incident is an insured event," the administration said.

If the insurance payout does not fully cover the car repairs, Talan Towers will compensate the remaining amount from its own funds.

Recall that due to strong squally winds, a massive OSB sheet fell from the roof of Talan Towers onto the parking area and damaged two parked cars at once — a Hyundai Mufasa and a Chevrolet Tahoe.
