A woman has been detained in Aktobe on suspicion of fraud in real estate transactions. According to investigators, at least two residents of Kosshy fell victim to her actions, with total damages amounting to 22 million tenge, reports infohub.kz.
According to the investigation, the woman, under the pretext of buying apartments, received 14 million and 8 million tenge from citizens, after which she disappeared. In July, she was put on the wanted list.
"During operational search activities, police established that the suspect was in Aktobe. With the assistance of local colleagues, she was detained and placed in a temporary detention facility," the press service of the Akmolinsk Regional Police Department reported.
After her arrest, it turned out that the woman worked as a teacher at one of the schools in Aktobe. Law enforcement officers are now checking the circumstances of her employment and the authenticity of the documents she provided upon hiring.
The investigation is also considering the possibility of the use of forged documents and certificates.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that Kazakhstan's Ministry of Internal Affairs warned about fraud using artificial intelligence. Attackers can fake the voice and appearance of relatives or acquaintances to convince a person to urgently transfer money. Police advise verifying such requests by calling loved ones directly and not disclosing bank card details, SMS codes, or passwords.
