Kazakhstan's football club Tobol suffered a home defeat to Serbia's Partizan in the second leg of the third qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League, reports infohub.kz.
The match took place at the Central Stadium in Kostanay and ended with a comeback victory for the visitors, 2-1. The hosts took the lead as early as the 7th minute with a precise strike from Islam Chesnokov. For the Kazakhstan national team winger, this goal was his first since returning to Tobol from Scotland's Hearts.
In the second half, Partizan managed to turn the game around. Serbian defender Stefan Mitrovic scored in the 47th minute, and Ivorian forward Shaka Traore netted the winner in the 90+2nd minute.
Thus, over two legs, the Belgrade side proved stronger with an aggregate score of 5-1 and advanced to the qualifying playoff round of the Conference League, where they will face Spain's Getafe.
Tobol have ended their European campaign. Among Kazakh clubs on the international stage, only Kairat remain, having secured at least a spot in the Conference League league phase.
