Authorities in the Atyrau region are investigating the murder of a 42-year-old woman, with her common-law husband named as the prime suspect. The tragedy unfolded in front of the victim's three-year-old daughter, who later recounted the events to police, reports infohub.kz.
According to the Telegram channel "Criminal Kazakhstan," the woman's body was discovered by her 16-year-old daughter upon returning home. The three-year-old was found next to the deceased. Relatives say the toddler told police she saw her father stab her mother before fleeing. The family claims the body bore 28 stab wounds. They also allege the victim had previously filed multiple complaints with police about her partner's aggressive behavior.
The Atyrau Regional Police Department confirmed the suspect's arrest. "A 37-year-old man, who was in a common-law marriage with the victim, has been detained and placed in a temporary detention facility on suspicion of murdering the woman during a domestic conflict. A criminal case has been opened under the article 'Murder.' A full range of investigative actions is underway," police reported. The department added that no further information would be disclosed in the interests of the investigation.
Earlier, it was reported that in the East Kazakhstan region, a 51-year-old man was detained for a brutal attack on his ex-wife, the mother of six children. According to police, the incident occurred on July 25 in the village of Samarskoye. A criminal case has been opened against the suspect, and he has been arrested. The East Kazakhstan Regional Police Department also stated that the man had previously been repeatedly prosecuted both criminally and administratively based on the victim's complaints and had been stripped of parental rights.
