President of Kazakhstan Qasym-Jomart Toqaev, in his address to the nation, raised the issue of pressure on teachers and the growing number of cases of students showing disrespect toward their teachers, infohub.kz reports.
According to the head of state, education reform is being actively discussed in society. Toqaev stressed that any changes should make teachers' work easier and reduce the excessive burden on their workplace.
"In practice, it is no secret that this task is not being fully carried out. There used to be a lot of paperwork. Now it is being replaced by reports that must be entered into various platforms and digital systems," the president said.
He recalled that a teacher's main mission is to provide a child with a quality education — that is, to raise a competent, conscientious generation. "Unnecessary work that hinders the fulfillment of these tasks must be stopped. The honor and dignity of teachers must be protected. Recently, cases in which students have spoken rudely to their teachers and even used force have become more frequent in schools," Toqaev said.
The president noted that in such situations school administrations often put pressure on teachers. "This is wrong," he stressed.
According to the head of state, every issue must be examined carefully and comprehensively. "Everyone — the family, the student, the teacher and the school — must approach any situation with equal responsibility. The Ministry of Education must pay close attention to this issue," the president said.
