A tourist died at the Shunkulduk Pass in the Turkestan region, while his companion was evacuated by an MChS helicopter, according to a report by infohub.kz.
The incident occurred at an altitude of 2,400 meters in the mountains of the Aksu-Zhabagly State Nature Reserve.
According to available information, one of the tourists suddenly fell ill and died. The other participant also reported feeling unwell and was unable to descend on his own.
Emergency services and a helicopter from Kazaviaspas were immediately dispatched to the scene. Rescuers used the aircraft to evacuate a man born in 1993 from the remote area. After being transported, he was examined by paramedics, given necessary assistance, and released home without requiring hospitalization. Additionally, rescuers brought down the body of a man born in 1978 from the mountain.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reminded that before a mountain hike, one should inform relatives of the route, check the weather forecast, and bring communication devices, water supplies, a first aid kit, and necessary medications.
Earlier, it was reported about a case where a tourist spent three days on a rock without food or water in the mountains of the Turkestan region before rescuers arrived.
