A passenger train equipped with Starlink satellite internet will continue to operate on the Nurly Zhol — Arkalyk route until the end of this year, reports the website infohub.kz.
The national railway operator has decided to extend the operation of train No. 225/226 on the Nurly Zhol — Arkalyk route until the end of 2026. This is done to meet passenger demand, ensure transport accessibility for residents of Akmola and Kostanay regions, and create comfortable conditions for passenger transportation.
Initially, the train was assigned on a trial basis until the end of August to study passenger flow. After considering citizens' appeals and taking into account actual demand, it was decided to extend its operation until the end of this year. A special feature of the route is the launch of satellite internet based on Starlink technology. In addition, a convenient schedule allows passengers to comfortably plan trips between regions. Overall, the extension of the route is aimed at ensuring stable transport links and improving the quality and accessibility of passenger transportation, — noted Anuar Akhmetzhanov, Chairman of the Management Board of JSC "Passenger Transportation".
Passengers are transported in RWS Wagon cars built in 2024. The train includes three compartment cars and three open-sleeper cars, designed to carry more than 250 passengers in one direction. The cars are manufactured in accordance with modern international requirements for safety, reliability, and comfort. The compartments are equipped with ergonomic sleeping places, individual LED lights, USB ports, and power outlets. The service life of the cars is up to 40 years, — added the press service.
The train will run every other day. Along the way, it will stop at stations Nurly Zhol, Zhaltyr, Atbasar, Zhaksy, Esil, Derzhavinskaya, Arkalyk, and other stations.
