A court in Shymkent has started hearing the high-profile case of the murder of 40-year-old wrestling master Vasily Kolesnikov, who was abducted from the scene of a road accident in January after a mass brawl, reports infohub.kz.
According to KTK TV channel, the tragic events unfolded on January 20. That day, a seemingly routine traffic accident occurred in Shymkent: two cars collided, and the drivers got out to sort things out. However, soon a group of men arrived at the scene, and the conflict escalated into a mass brawl, which was captured on video. At some point, the opponents shoved Vasily into their car and drove off in an unknown direction. The defense insists that this was not a random post-accident scuffle but a pre-planned ambush.
After the abduction, Kolesnikov was searched for several hours. Later, his body was found on the outskirts of Shymkent. According to the investigation, the body bore signs of severe torture. Six defendants, who were forbidden to show their faces, appeared before the court. Two more suspects are on the wanted list.
State prosecutor Mukhtar Arystanov stated: "With particular cruelty, they repeatedly struck Kolesnikov with a hard blunt object, as well as a sharp object with cutting properties. Realizing that the bodily injuries could cause his death, and desiring such consequences, they deliberately deprived him of his life."
Recall that in January, a video of the traffic accident in Shymkent, which escalated into a deadly mass brawl, spread online. It was noted that after the collision of two cars, a third vehicle joined the conflict. As a result, one man received multiple stab wounds, and another was forcibly taken out of town, where his body was later found.
Later, the health department reported that a patient born in 1990 was admitted to City Clinical Hospital No. 1 in serious condition. He was diagnosed with a penetrating knife wound to the left chest cavity and underwent emergency surgery. The victim was placed in intensive care.
Also, the Shymkent police department reported that they had identified and detained four men suspected of murder and hooliganism. Later, it was reported that three more suspects were detained.
