US President Donald Trump expressed uncertainty about granting Ukraine a license to produce Patriot anti-aircraft missiles, according to an interview with the Financial Times, as reported by infohub.kz.
The White House chief said he is not yet sure whether the US will provide Ukraine with a license to produce these missiles. However, the issue will be examined, Trump promised. "This is very unusual weaponry, and… we need to be a bit careful about who we give licenses to. We don't, really, hand out licenses for such equipment," the US president stated.
The publication also notes that, according to Ukraine's ambassador to the US, Olha Stefanishyna, Volodymyr Zelensky did not secure firm commitments from Donald Trump regarding the supply of missiles for air defense systems to Kyiv.
Earlier, Zelensky and Trump held talks at the White House. "We discussed with the president licenses for the production of interceptors for Patriot systems and some other ideas that could help," Zelensky said after the conversation. Even before his meeting with Trump in the US, the Ukrainian leader said that the main priority of the talks would be protection against ballistic missiles.
