US President Donald Trump has demanded Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth explain a serious shortage of ammunition that could limit US military options against Iran, according to infohub.kz.
Citing informed sources, the Washington Post reported that the White House chief expressed displeasure over being misled about the state of military stockpiles. The incident occurred during a cabinet meeting at Camp David.
Trump had believed the ammunition shortage was already resolved, but was confronted with data showing a deficit of long-range guided missiles and air defense systems. Sources say the lack of weaponry was the reason for refraining from strikes on Iran.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, for his part, blamed his deputy, Stephen Feinberg, for the situation, saying he had not provided the president with complete information about stockpile levels.
