The US Secret Service has launched an investigation into a video aired by Iranian state television that allegedly contains threats against Barron Trump, the youngest son of President Donald Trump, according to infohub.kz.
According to CNN, following the killing of former Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his family members in early February during the US-Israeli conflict, radical Iranian media have repeatedly published threats against President Trump and his family. Previously, threats were directed at First Lady Melania Trump, but this is the first time Barron has been the target of public threats.
Secret Service spokesman Nate Herring said: "The US Secret Service is aware of the video and is investigating anything that could be perceived as a threat to our protectees. For operational security reasons, we do not discuss matters pertaining to intelligence or security."
The three-minute video reportedly calls for violence and includes stylized images of locations where the president's son frequently spends time. At the end of the video, the narrator suggests that people are "eagerly awaiting our $10 million reward."
