Ust-Kamenogorsk Mayor Almat Akyshov has urged residents not to compare the regional center with Pavlodar, emphasizing that the cities are in different conditions, reports infohub.kz.
The mayor spoke about the extensive road repair work carried out over the past few months. "This year we have placed maximum emphasis on road repairs in the city. The regional akimat provided great support in this. Ust-Kamenogorsk and Pavlodar have different conditions. Pavlodar has 450 kilometers of roads, while we have 750 kilometers. These are different volumes of work," said Almat Akyshov.
According to the mayor, such a pace of road repairs has never been seen before. In previous years, about 20-25 kilometers were repaired per season, whereas this year they managed to renovate 60 kilometers.
"If we maintain this pace, our roads will gradually improve. But we should not think that we can repair all 750 kilometers at once. Therefore, the funds allocated for repairs have to be distributed among different districts of the city. Pavlodar is more compact in this regard," the mayor explained.
Almat Akyshov also admitted that the allocated funds are insufficient to bring all city roads into good condition in one summer. "We directed all additional budget funds to roads this year. Somewhere we are doing work on credit, as funding is still insufficient. We will try to maintain the same pace of road repairs next year," he added.
