In the Ulan district of the East Kazakhstan region, a leak of personal data of over 600 teachers was stopped, reports the website infohub.kz.
Investigators found that when posting announcements for procurement of mandatory medical check-up services, schools and kindergartens in the district attached detailed employee lists to the documentation on the government procurement portal. This exposed full personal information — including full names, identification numbers, job titles, residential addresses, and personal phone numbers — to an unrestricted audience, creating direct risks of confidential information being spread.
“As a result of the supervisory act issued by the district prosecutor’s office, the violations were fully eliminated, and the illegally published data of 611 employees were removed from public access. The guilty officials were brought to legal responsibility,” the statement said.
The prosecutor’s office of the East Kazakhstan region reminded that illegal collection, processing, or dissemination of personal data carries strict administrative and criminal liability under the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
