A fresh case of vandalism has been recorded at the unique natural landmark Ybykty Sai in the Mangystau Region — a criminal case has been opened and a suspect detained, the website infohub.kz reports.
According to NUR.KZ, citing regional police, a video showing an act of vandalism in the Ybykty Sai gorge was posted several days ago on the Instagram account 911.aktau. The footage shows a young man writing an inscription directly on a rock.
Today, NUR.KZ was told by the press service of the Mangystau Region Police Department that a criminal case had been opened over the vandalism at the natural site. "A 34-year-old suspect has been detained. The investigation is ongoing," police said.
The regional police department recalled that vandalism and damage to natural sites are unacceptable. Every such case will receive a firm legal assessment. Those responsible will be held accountable, the press service assured.
Recall that in May this year, police in the region identified a man who had left inscriptions with his name and car license plate number in the Ybykty Sai area. A court sentenced him to 25 days of arrest.
