A woman from Ulyanovsk is suspected of fraud: she demanded money from her ex-partner by sending him images of non-existent children created with artificial intelligence, reports infohub.kz.
According to the police of the Ulyanovsk region, the investigation into a criminal case of fraud under the pretext of a fictitious pregnancy and birth of children has been completed.
According to the investigation, a girl born in 2001 met a man born in 1999 on the internet. They started a romantic relationship, but later broke up. At the time of the relationship, the victim lived in Ulyanovsk; after the breakup, he moved to Moscow.
After a short time, the suspect wrote to her ex-boyfriend and told him about her pregnancy and the subsequent birth of twins. The man began transferring money to the fraudster to buy items needed for newborns. To keep her story plausible, the girl sent the victim various photos from the internet or created with a graphic editor. When he offered to come and help with preparations for childbirth, childcare, and upbringing, the man was refused.
The press release states that when the man began to doubt the sincerity of the accused, she allegedly reported the death of a close relative and the need for money for the funeral.
When the man came to the place of residence of the girl's parents, he met the allegedly deceased relative. Thus, between October 2025 and April 30, 2026, the victim transferred 684,000 rubles (almost 3.7 million tenge).
The case has now been sent to court for consideration of the charges on the merits.
