Technical disruptions to Yandex Pay services intensified after a third data center in Russia was damaged on the morning of October 11. Earlier, drone attacks disabled infrastructure facilities in Sasovo and Kaluga, according to infohub.kz.
Dmitry Pirogov, head of Yandex's fintech division, issued an emergency statement acknowledging that the company cannot yet provide a precise timeline for fully restoring access to accounts and transfers.
"First, the most important thing: all your money is safe. The money itself is not stored in the data center. The servers that support the services are located there. Records of each account are stored in multiple copies across different locations. We have verified their integrity: not a single record has been lost," he assured.
A team of engineers is carrying out restoration work around the clock. However, Pirogov cannot yet give an exact timeline.
"I am very sorry that I cannot yet tell you: 'everything is working again.' The team continues to restore services and checks every step. When it comes to your money, it is important for us not just to bring Yandex Pay back as quickly as possible, but also to ensure that everything works reliably," he added.
Recall that in Kazakhstan, disruptions have been observed in the operation of Yandex Go services — taxi and food and goods delivery. The company claims it is working to restore services, but the exact timeline is still unknown.
Note that over the past few days, Ukrainian drones have attacked major Yandex data centers in various regions of Russia several times. On October 11, a data center in Vladimir completely stopped operations. The company is assessing the damage and recommends that users use alternative recovery plans. Earlier, a fire occurred at a data center in Ryazan Oblast after an attack, and in Kaluga Oblast several modules failed, leading to service interruptions.
