On July 18, meteorologists forecast adverse weather conditions that will cause air pollution in six cities of Kazakhstan, according to infohub.kz.

Adverse weather conditions are expected in Almaty, and overnight in Astana, Petropavlovsk, Karaganda, Zhezkazgan, and Temirtau. These conditions occur with a combination of calm, light wind, fog, and temperature inversion. As a result, pollutants accumulate near the ground, degrading air quality.

Meteorologists warn that during such periods, the risk of negative health effects from polluted air increases, especially for people with chronic diseases. Pollution levels are also affected by wind speed, precipitation, humidity, and air temperature.

Residents are advised to limit time spent outdoors, especially near roads and other pollution sources. Children, the elderly, and pregnant women are urged to avoid long walks. People with respiratory or cardiovascular diseases and allergy sufferers should keep their medications on hand. Outdoor physical activities should be moved indoors if possible.

Earlier, Kazhydromet issued a storm warning for July 18 for 16 regions of Kazakhstan and the city of Astana. Several areas are forecast to experience extreme heat up to 45°C, thunderstorms, hail, squally winds, dust storms, and extreme fire danger.
