Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has submitted a motion to the Verkhovna Rada to dismiss Ruslan Kravchenko from the post of Prosecutor General, infohub.kz reports.
The head of state sent the document on September 14. The motion reads in part: "Pursuant to Clause 25 of Part One of Article 85, Clause 11 of Part One of Article 106, and Part Three of Article 131¹ of the Constitution of Ukraine, I propose that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine grant consent to the dismissal of R. Kravchenko from the position of Prosecutor General."
David Arakhamia, head of the Servant of the People faction, confirmed that the presidential motion had been received by parliament. According to him, the document will be considered at a meeting of the relevant committee within the next few hours, after which it will be brought before the parliament in the session hall tomorrow.
According to Deutsche Welle, Ukraine's Prosecutor General has already left the country. Kravchenko himself confirmed that he is abroad. His statement appeared an hour and a half after a speech in which he announced suspicion against Semen Kryvonos, director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine.
"I am currently on a foreign business trip, during which a number of meetings are planned, at which I intend to inform international partners about the real state of affairs in the system of anti-corruption bodies, signs of their concentration of uncontrolled influence, and the risks that such a practice creates for state sovereignty, the rule of law, and democratic institutions," Kravchenko said.
Earlier it was reported that Ukraine's Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko had submitted his resignation and commented on his decision.
