Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has forwarded a petition demanding that Potap be stripped of the title of Merited Artist of Ukraine to the government and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), according to infohub.kz.
According to the publication, on September 17 the Verkhovna Rada did not support stripping artist Oleksii Potapov, best known as a member of a project with Nastya Kamenskikh, of the title "Merited Artist of Ukraine." The appeal by the initiators, who accused Potap of living abroad, continuing to perform and releasing content in Russian, was backed by 198 lawmakers, short of the 226 votes required.
Today it became known that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has forwarded the petition to strip Potap of the "Merited Artist" title to the Cabinet of Ministers and the Security Service of Ukraine for further consideration.
"I thank everyone who joined this petition for their active civic stance, for supporting initiatives aimed at protecting Ukraine's cultural and information space from Russian influences and narratives," Zelenskyy's response to the petition, which gathered the required number of votes, says.
Earlier we reported that Oleksii Potapenko, who previously performed in a duo with Nastya Kamenskikh, was added to the database of the Ukrainian website "Myrotvorets."
