In the Zhetisu region, a man who posed as a livestock buyer has been sentenced for fraudulently acquiring a flock of sheep, reports infohub.kz.
According to the regional prosecutor's office, court verdicts have come into force in the Aksu district against individuals found guilty of repeated fraud.
In one criminal case, it was established that the convicted man, posing as a buyer of small livestock, deceived five residents of Ashchibulak village and took possession of 266 sheep. The victims suffered damages exceeding 13.8 million tenge. Despite partial compensation, the state prosecutor argued that this does not justify a sentence not involving isolation from society for repeated fraud. The court found the defendant guilty and sentenced him to 2 years and 5 months in prison.
In another case, between 2023 and 2025, the convicted individual, under the pretext of supplying construction materials, obtaining a driver's license, and other false promises, defrauded 10 victims of over 3 million tenge. The court of first instance sentenced him to 3 years and 6 months of restricted freedom. Following an appeal by the prosecutor's office of the Aksu district, the sentence was changed to 3 years in prison. The appellate court took into account full compensation of damages, but this does not exclude criminal liability.
The supervisory authority noted that the court decisions confirm that compensation for property damage, whether full or partial, does not exempt offenders from criminal responsibility.
