Kazakh President Explores Golden Horde's Rich Historical Legacy
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has been presented with a comprehensive exhibition dedicated to the historical legacy of the Golden Horde. The event featured significant artifacts offering insights into the history of this nomadic civilization.
A Glimpse into the Golden Horde's Past
The exhibition provided the head of state with an in-depth look at the history, archaeology, culture, and uniqueness of the Golden Horde. A central piece of the display was an interactive map detailing over 70 archaeological and architectural sites. Seventeen of these sites were presented with detailed descriptions, aerial photography, and 3D visualizations.
Spiritual and Written Treasures
Among the exhibition's standout items was the manuscript titled 'Shezhire Khan' (Genealogy of Khans), which chronicles the lineage of the khans. This document contains genealogical information about the rulers and historical figures of that era.
Additionally, the exhibition included the Catalan Atlas, written records, coins from the period, and everyday objects. The written heritage presented comprised 3 decrees, 4 diplomatic letters, and 21 manuscripts, with both original and electronic versions made available.
Promoting Historical Heritage
According to the press service of Akorda, the exhibition aims to promote the historical and cultural heritage of the Golden Horde and to foster greater academic interest in its study. Previously, President Tokayev spoke at the opening of a symposium titled 'Golden Horde – A Model of Steppe Civilization: History, Archaeology, Culture, and Uniqueness.' He emphasized the Golden Horde era as a crucial period in Kazakhstan's national history and a stage of civilizational development.
This exhibition underscores the importance of preserving and understanding the rich history of the Golden Horde for Kazakhstan's national identity.
