Astana LRT Stations Get Names as Launch Nears

Astana's Light Rail Transit (LRT) project is moving forward, with the first station names and navigation signs being installed. This marks a significant step in the preparation phase for the much-anticipated public transport system.

Naming the Stations

As part of the ongoing work, plaques displaying station names have been erected along several sections of the LRT line. For instance, the station near the Abu Dhabi Plaza complex has been named 'Baiterek'. These visible markers indicate that the project is progressing towards its operational readiness.

Navigation and Infrastructure

Further enhancing passenger guidance, a navigation pillar has been installed at the 'Syganak' station. The installation of station decorations and infrastructure elements continues, contributing to the overall development of the transit system.

LRT Network Details

The Astana LRT line is set to feature a total of 18 stations, connecting key business districts and residential areas across the city. Some of the named stations include 'Baiterek' and 'Syganak'.

Testing and Operations

The trial operation of the LRT commenced on September 29, 2025, and is expected to last for at least six months. According to City Transportation Systems (CTS), the trains will operate at speeds of 40-50 kilometers per hour. A journey from the 'Nurly Zhol' station to the airport is estimated to take approximately 40 minutes, with train intervals ranging from 5 to 10 minutes depending on the specific section.
