Chaos Erupts at "Zhasyl El" Program Sign-ups in Aktau, One Woman Collapses

A chaotic scene unfolded in Aktau as eager applicants for the "Zhasyl El" youth labor program overwhelmed the application center, resulting in a physical scuffle and one woman losing consciousness due to the intense crowding.

Disorganized Application Process Sparks Conflict

Videos circulating from the Youth House depict a massive throng of people both inside and outside the building. In one distressing clip, a woman is seen lying on the floor, with an off-camera voice confirming she has fainted amidst the pandemonium.

One resident, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed frustration with the organization of the application process. "We arrived at 6 AM, only to find a queue list already being managed. After registering, we discovered there were two separate lists, forcing us to re-register. By 9 AM, a large crowd had gathered at the entrance, preventing those who arrived earlier and were on the lists from entering," they recounted.

The situation escalated as police arrived but reportedly focused on managing the crowd inside rather than establishing order outside. "Why not organize online applications or ensure proper order? People struggled to move from the first floor to the second near the stairs. We left without waiting further. This is degrading to people. Unfortunately, the behavioral culture of some citizens is also low," the resident added.

Authorities Respond to Overcrowding

The Mangystau Regional Akimat (governor's office) confirmed that applications for the "Zhasyl El" youth labor brigades, tasked with beautification and landscaping, began on Monday, May 17th.

"Due to the high interest from young people, over 100 individuals gathered in front of the building to submit documents. The sudden and significant influx of citizens caused overcrowding inside, resulting in one visitor fainting," the Akimat stated.

Emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene and provided timely assistance to the affected woman. Officials assured that her life and health are not in danger.

To manage the situation and prevent further gatherings, the Akimat implemented immediate organizational measures. This included increasing the number of application windows and deploying 20 specialists to handle registration and service. A separate waiting area for 140 people was also established. These actions helped to quickly disperse the crowd and normalize the application process.

Law enforcement officers continue to ensure public order and the safety of citizens at the venue.
