Earn €400 Monthly: Join Italian Mountain Research Project as a Volunteer
Are you drawn to the tranquility of mountain landscapes and seeking an opportunity to earn while surrounded by nature? A new research project in Italy is looking for volunteers to live and work in a high-altitude environment, offering a monthly payment of €400.
Scientific Research in the Alps
The study will take place in the Nino Corsi mountain refuge, situated in the Val Martello valley in northern Italy, at an altitude of 2,265 meters above sea level. Researchers are seeking healthy men and women between the ages of 18 and 40 to participate in this unique scientific experiment. The primary goal is to investigate how the human body adapts to moderate altitudes, specifically above 2,000 meters.
Eligibility and Requirements
Ideal candidates should maintain a healthy lifestyle, abstaining from medications, alcohol, and illicit substances. Individuals with high blood pressure, chronic illnesses, or those following specific diets like vegetarianism will not be considered. Preference will be given to those who have not been at altitudes above 1,500 meters in the last four weeks.
Research Methods and Benefits
Participants will undergo comprehensive monitoring of their cardiovascular and respiratory systems, metabolism, sleep patterns, appetite, and physical activity levels. The research will utilize advanced technology, including portable ultrasound devices, continuous glucose monitoring sensors, and equipment for analyzing blood gases and hemoglobin.
Significance of the Project
While approximately 200 million people worldwide live at altitudes above 2,000 meters, most previous research has focused on extreme heights (above 3,000-4,000 meters). This project aims to fill a critical knowledge gap regarding the health impacts of moderate altitudes. The research is scheduled to commence in September 2026.
