Kazakh Poet Zursin Yerman Recounts Health Battle and Presidential Support
Renowned Kazakh poet and organizer of traditional singing competitions, Zursin Yerman, has openly discussed a challenging period in his life concerning his health. He revealed his battle with diabetes and the significant support he received from Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during a program called '1001 Nights'.
Diabetes Complications and a Dire Diagnosis
Yerman explained that his health deteriorated significantly due to complications from diabetes. While receiving treatment at a major medical center in Almaty, doctors informed him that amputation of his leg was necessary, presenting it as the only viable option to save his life.
Seeking Treatment Abroad with Presidential Aid
Faced with this grave prognosis, Yerman decided to seek treatment abroad. He traveled to Switzerland, where his godfather, who is the Director-General of the World Health Organization, reviewed his case. The medical professionals in Switzerland determined that amputation was not required.
The poet acknowledged that the journey to Switzerland was not easy. He expressed his gratitude to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for allocating substantial funds to cover his medical expenses abroad, a fact he learned indirectly but deeply appreciated.
Recovery and Gratitude
Thanks to the treatment received and the care of his daughters, along with herbal remedies, Yerman was able to avoid amputation and return home safely. He also emphasized the immense moral support he received from the public, which provided him with strength during his recovery.
