Kazakh Teacher Sets New Guinness World Record for Two-Finger Hang
Anatoliy Viselskiy, a physical education teacher from Petropavl, Kazakhstan, has officially entered the Guinness World Records for his extraordinary feat of hanging by two fingers. His achievement surpasses the previous record held by Italian Marcello Ferri by over six seconds, showcasing exceptional strength and endurance.
A New Benchmark in Endurance
Viselskiy's new record stands at an impressive 2 minutes and 7.45 seconds. This remarkable display of strength significantly outlasts the prior record of 2 minutes and 1 second, previously held by Marcello Ferri. Although the record was set about six months ago, Viselskiy only recently received his official certificate. The process of obtaining official recognition involved substantial costs, including a €500 fee for the certificate and an additional €11,000 to have a special commission present during the record attempt.
From Childhood Sports to World Records
Working at a school in Petropavl, Viselskiy has been passionate about sports since childhood, participating in football, basketball, and volleyball. He also dedicated significant time to gym workouts, honing his physical capabilities. The idea to pursue a Guinness World Record emerged unexpectedly.
"When I saw records for hanging and finger pull-ups online, I realized I could break some of them," Viselskiy shared. He has ambitious plans for the future, aiming to set new records in four-finger pull-ups and the number of pull-ups achievable within an hour.
Financial Realities and Inspiring Students
Currently, Viselskiy relies on his teacher's salary, as there is no direct financial reward from Guinness World Records. However, he anticipates that this achievement will bring him increased media attention and a larger social media following, potentially leading to future income opportunities. More importantly, his success is already inspiring his students. Viselskiy proudly noted that several of his trainees have become champions in regional competitions across various disciplines, including basketball, athletics, cross-country running, and the winter presidential multi-event.
"The children reacted very positively to my records. They are motivated, and many have started training in pull-ups and shoulder presses," he added.
