A significant update to Kazakhstan's pension annuity system is set to provide greater flexibility and choice for beneficiaries. The change, announced by Member of Parliament Askhat Aimagambetov, addresses how remaining funds are handled when an annuity holder passes away.

Expanded Heir Rights

Previously, if an individual with a pension annuity died, any remaining funds in their account were not immediately disbursed to their heirs. Instead, surviving family members could only receive these funds through monthly installments over an extended period.

Families Given More Choices

This regulation has now been altered. Under the new provisions, if funds remain in a pension annuity account, heirs have two options: they can continue to receive the money through monthly payments, as was the practice before, or they can opt to receive the entire remaining balance as a single lump sum payment. This removes the previous rigid restriction, placing the choice directly in the hands of the family. This adjustment is expected to make the pension annuity system more convenient and adaptable for individuals and their families.
