Kazakhstan Man Arrested for Selling Fake Driver's Licenses for Up to $3,300
A resident of Satpayev city has been detained for allegedly defrauding individuals by promising to help them obtain driver's licenses. The suspect reportedly took money from citizens, only to sever contact afterward.
Online Scam Uncovered
According to investigative reports, the accused advertised services on social media, offering assistance in acquiring driver's licenses. After receiving payment, the individual would cease all communication with the victims.
Substantial Sums Demanded
Police officials revealed that the suspect charged between 300,000 and 1.5 million tenge (approximately $660 to $3,300 USD) for the fraudulent service. So far, approximately 20 victims have been identified in connection with this scheme.
Ongoing Investigation and Official Warning
Pre-trial investigations are currently underway regarding this case. Law enforcement agencies are reminding the public that driver's licenses can only be obtained through legal channels, which involve attending a driving school, passing examinations, and completing the necessary paperwork at the Public Service Center (ЦОН).
Pattern of Fraud
This incident is not an isolated case in Kazakhstan. Previously, reports emerged of individuals losing money to similar scams. In one instance, three people were defrauded of 770,000 tenge. In another case in the North Kazakhstan region, a taxi driver was apprehended for allegedly taking over 450,000 tenge from four victims by promising to arrange driver's licenses for 100,000-200,000 tenge each.
