Kazakhstan is set to significantly enhance its oversight of the online information space with the introduction of a new system designed to detect and block illegal content. This initiative, detailed in new regulations from the Agency of Financial Monitoring, aims to create a safer digital environment for its citizens.

Under the new regulations, the Agency of Financial Monitoring will actively monitor the information landscape. This process involves analyzing publicly available data from a wide range of sources, including social media platforms, messaging applications, mass media outlets, and other online services. The goal is to proactively identify any content that violates Kazakh law.

Measures Against Illegal Content

Once illegal content is identified, the agency is empowered to take decisive action. This includes referring cases to the appropriate authorities for administrative or criminal prosecution of responsible individuals. Furthermore, information about identified violations will be forwarded to the authorized body in the field of mass media. This can lead to decisions restricting access to internet resources hosting the unlawful material.

These measures are designed to bolster the prevention of digital offenses and ensure the security of the information space. The agency's efforts are focused on creating a more secure and lawful online environment for everyone in Kazakhstan.
