Kazakhstan's First President Nazarbayev Officially Out of Politics, Spokesperson Confirms

Nursultan Nazarbayev, the first president of Kazakhstan, is no longer involved in the country's political affairs. This clarification comes from his press secretary, Aidos Ukibay, who addressed the matter in a recent interview.

No Longer Involved in Party Politics

Ukibay explicitly stated that Nazarbayev is not a member of the 'Amanat' party, which he originally founded. He also confirmed that the former president has no connection to recent developments surrounding the party.

"What is Nursultan Abishevich's connection to the party? He concluded his presidential duties in 2019," the press secretary noted, emphasizing Nazarbayev's departure from active political roles.

End of an Era

This official confirmation marks the end of Nazarbayev's direct engagement with politics after leading Kazakhstan for nearly 30 years. Although he stepped down as president in 2019, he retained significant influence, holding positions such as the chairman of the Security Council and the leader of the 'Nur Otan' party (now 'Amanat') until the January 2022 events.

Addressing Public Speculation

Recent political shifts within the 'Amanat' party had sparked considerable public discussion and raised questions about Nazarbayev's potential involvement. His press secretary's statement aims to provide clarity on his current status.
