Kyrgyzstan Political Shake-up: Ex-Security Chief's Exit Linked to Coup Attempt

A significant political development is unfolding in Kyrgyzstan, with Member of Parliament Elvira Surabaldieva shedding light on the reasons behind the departure of Kamchybek Tashiev, the former head of the National Security Committee. Her statements have ignited considerable discussion regarding the nation's political climate.

Allegations of a Coup Attempt

According to Surabaldieva, the departure of Tashiev may be linked to an alleged attempt to organize a state coup. The MP indicated that these alleged activities had been in preparation for an extended period. Investigations into the matter are currently underway, with several individuals suspected of involvement having been detained and brought in for questioning.

Presidential Clemency and Past Ties

Surabaldieva also connected Tashiev's continued freedom to the President's clemency. "The President is a very forgiving person. Perhaps he feels sorry for Tashiev, as they have been friends for a long time. I don't know the specifics, but this is a difficult situation for the President, as a close friend attempted to remove him from his post," Surabaldieva stated.
