Man Convicted of Abusing Stepdaughters Dies in Detention Amidst Brawl
A man convicted of severe crimes against his two minor stepdaughters has died in a pre-trial detention center in Atyrau, Kazakhstan. The 51-year-old, identified as Dabyr Zhardemuly, was a distant relative of Atyrau city mayor Shakir Keykin.
Zhardemuly had been sentenced to 25 years in prison for the abuse of his stepdaughters. He was awaiting the finalization of his sentence while in detention.
Incident in Detention Center
According to official reports, Zhardemuly died on March 22 during a large-scale brawl that occurred within the detention facility. The exact circumstances surrounding the fight and his death are currently under investigation.
Family Ties and Funeral
Reports indicate that Zhardemuly and Mayor Shakir Keykin hail from the same region, Jyloi district. Despite having different surnames and patronymics, their distant kinship has been confirmed.
The funeral took place in the city of Kulsary. Eyewitnesses reported that thousands attended, including some state employees. However, many attendees were reportedly unaware of the severity of the crimes for which Zhardemuly was convicted, with his family allegedly concealing the details of his offenses and presenting his death as a natural occurrence.
The incident has drawn the attention of local authorities and relevant agencies. An investigation is underway to determine the precise cause of death within the detention center.
