Ramadan Sees Dip in Demand for Intimate Services in Kazakhstan, Data Shows

Searches for intimate services in Kazakhstan experience a significant decline during the holy month of Ramadan, according to an analysis of Google Trends data. This cyclical trend highlights a shift in public interest during periods of religious observance.

Ramadan's Impact on Search Trends

Nurassyl Abdrazakuly, an expert who analyzed the data, observed a pattern where searches for terms related to religious practices, such as 'namaz' (prayer), increase before Ramadan begins. Conversely, interest in intimate services tends to decrease during the fasting period, only to rise again after the conclusion of Ramadan and the subsequent Eid al-Fitr celebration. This trend is also observed during the period leading up to and following Eid al-Adha.

Website Resilience Amidst Restrictions

Despite facing numerous restrictions, the website Kyzdar.net has managed to remain operational. Reports indicate the site was blocked 259 times in 2024 alone. Its continued accessibility is attributed to its strategy of frequently changing domain names and utilizing American hosting services, making it difficult to permanently shut down.

Debate Over Legalization

The discussion around the legalization of intimate services continues. Previously, a publication interviewed a sex worker in Almaty who, along with her colleagues, advocated for the legal recognition of their profession. They believe that legalization would offer better protection and regulation for those working in the industry.
